In Morano’s painting human subjects merge with urban scenes, and as occurs in unconscious states, surprising distortions, juxtapositions and augmentations prevail. Here the weight of emotion destabilises the built environment, and enigmatic objects present with iconographic force, while in many works we see planes of consciousness caught in surreptitious acts of conjunction and convergence.
